Sol Negro by Virginia Rodrigues

Another great surprise from Bahia. Virginia is really talented and this debut album is one of the most interesting new releases of the year. She sings with a wonderful and powerful black voice. Her version of Djavan's "Nobreza" is really special, but maybe the duet with Milton Nascimento is the most amazing track. Passing from popular music to negro spirituals, and from Dorival Caymmi to "acappella" song, "Sol Negro" (Black Sun") is a real masterpiece. Unfortunately, until now, I didn't find any Website about Virginia. But you can stay sure that it won't take a lot of time. A star is born!
