Historical Sites
The most famous tourist attraction in Tasmania, and possibly Australia, is the Port Arthur Convict Settlement. It is recommended that you take at least a full day to tour this magnificent site. We have been there on each of our holidays to Tasmania and each time it is better than before. It is a site which has appeal for all ages. Many of the buildings (many of which are just outer walls) have been restored and or strengthened
so that visitors can walk safely inside them. The original mental assylum has been restored and established as a museum with a lot of information about the penal colony.
