Montjuic (Hill of the Jews) is a hill overlooking the city center from the south-west. Developed for the 1929 International Fair, it also houses the main group of buildings for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games. Originally thought to be a Celt-Iberian settlement, the Romans built a temple to Mons Jovis. A Jewish settlement and/or cemetery is thought to be the origin of the name. A 17th century castle crowns (b.1640) the hill overlooking the port of Barcelona. The paths and gardens contain some of Barcelona's best museums and greenspaces.
