Home to the Alhambra, Generalife and the Albaicin, Granada was the cultural and political center of the Moors' Nasrid dynasty (1238-1492). After the expulsion of the Moors in 1492 and during the Renaissance, the city continued to flourish under Christian rule. After a period of decline in the 19th century, the city is now undergoing a period of renewed interest and restoration.
We took an overnight train from Barcelona to Granada, sharing a six person sleeper with four women! Not a bad ratio!
