Acceptable Behavior Regarding Computer Use

Computer access to the Internet is to be used as a classroom tool.

Computer access to the Internet is to be used for assignments and research, not recreation.

Computer access to the Internet is to be used to complete school assignments.

Computer access to the Internet is to be used when there is a place assigned to go and a purpose as given
by the teacher.

Unacceptable Behavior Regarding Computer Use

Students are not allowed to used the computers unless supervised by an adult.

Students are not allowed to use Internet access for leisurely e-mail.
(There may be an occasional need for students to e-mail as part of an assignments. A single classroom
e-mail account will be used by the class for the particular assignment under the supervision of the teacher.)

Students are not allowed to visit any sites the are considered inappropriate for their assignment.
This includes sites containing nudity, pornography, illegal activities, violence, and hate sites as well as sites
deemed inappropriate by the instructor or supervisor.

Students are not allowed to visit game sites unless it supports the curriculum and is done under the supervision
of the instructor or lab supervisor.

Students are not allowed to chat over the Internet.

Students are not allowed to download and programs, music, or any other item that might be available
from the Internet unless directed by an instructor during a computer class.

Students are not allowed to disrupt other student's work while they are typing an assignment or after
the assignment has been saved to the computer.

Students are not allowed to alter the computer's settings in any way.  This includes the settings of the desktop,
icons, and any software or operating system (Windows) settings.
 

The students have these rules explained to them at the beginning of the school year; a chance to ask questions
if they did not understand; and, have been given their first and only warning about inappropriate activity while
using the computers and accessing the Internet.
