Adenium

There is no certain record shows that when adenium was introduced to Thailand. From available document first Adenium obesum should be brought to Thailand around 70 years ago. Because of its ease of cultivation and nice flowers, adenium was propagated and grown as general ornamental plant all over Thailand. Until in around 10 years ago, other cultivars of adenium was brought to Thailand. Then selecting and hybridizing of adenium started. Until now many hybrids have been produced by many breeders. The flower color and form of new hybrids are much more beautiful than original adenium. Flowering habit is also improved, many new hybrid flowers in large group of flowers and flowers all year around. There are many nice hybrid that are worth cultivating. Shown here is only part of those. Please enjoy watching their beauty.

	This hybrid is called "B52" which refer to its flowering habit. It is claimed to hold as many as 52 flowers per group. The flowers are white with hot red edge Once the plant hold groups of flower, it is the stunning beauty.
	Another hybrid which flowers in large group. Although shape of flower of this hybrid is not so nice, it color and flowering habit make it a wonderful plant. It flowers in large group hold as many as 20 flowers in a group. The name of this hybrid is "LaOngThong".
	This hybrid has very large pale purple flower which rarely seen. The flower is as large as 8 centimeters. The plant is strong by its nature. Once the plant is big enough, it flowers freely. Its name is "Blue Hawaii".
	This hybrid is "Crimson Star", the famous hybrid form USA. The color of flower is so nice. Its flower habit is also very good. One of the best hybrid !
	This hybrid is one of the most free flowering hybrid. The bright magenta flowers are very decorative. Its name is "HadYai".
	This hybrid is a good product of swazicum and somalense. It is named "Lovely". The very good form flower is bright magenta. The plant grows fast and strongly. The flowers are bigger when the plant get bigger. Free flowering hybrid.
	This is a nice red hybrid named "KanNiKa". The flower is bright red with paler color at center. The flower can be as large as 8 centimeters.
	The name of this striped hybrid is "LaiNamTok" which means waterfall. The flower is red with white stripes. Edge of the flower is irregular by nature. The flower will become plain red when plant grown too thriving.
	This hybrid said to be a hybrid form Taiwan. The owner named it "Red-NubANan". The flower is exceptionally large. The red color is solid. But it doesn't flower so freely.
	This is one of my favorite hybrid named "PanTiPa". The flower is not particularly nice but the plant rarely stops flowering. The flower's form is perfectly round.
	"SangRasSaMee" is the name of this red hybrid. The dark red petals contrast with bright yellow throat made this hybrid interesting. On first day of bloom flower's edge is blackish.
	Another red hybrid with very big flower. Its name is "SaThonSang" which means reflecting. The plant is very strong by its nature. A worth growing hybrid !
	Petals of this hybrid is a bit translucent. After the third day of bloom the color of flowers will be fresh red which contrasts with dark green leaves. Flower is bigger when plant is bigger. The name is "SriPraWat".
	As I know this adenium is plant imported form USA as A. crispum. Its flower is only 2 centimeters in diameter. The plant has thin long leaves and very compact bush. It also branches freely. A good plant for bonsai !

	This plant is said to be A. swazicum. Anyway its good form flowers make this plant a good plant to keep in collection. We called this plant "Shocking Pink".
	While other variegated adenium often have irregular leaves. This variegated has perfect leaves with nice variegation. Its flower is small and pale pink in color.
	The bronze leaves hybrid which named "NilMaHaKal". The word "Nil" means garnet. The plant grown for its nice leaves which be almost black in full sun. The plant rarely flowers.
	This variegated leaves hybrid has not only nice variegated leaves but also nice pink flowers. Its flower is large and deep pink in color. It's called "Dang-NubANan".

	Flower of this adenium is similar to "Shocking Pink" because it is the same plant. But this is a variegated form of the plant. Observe the ivory edge of leaves.

	This variegated adenium is called "TangChangPeuak" which means the milky way. The variegation on leaves which is white with pale green makes this variegated adenium very beautiful. No need to consider its small ordinary pink flower.
	This yellow variegated hybrid was just introduced few months ago. It must be one of the most beautiful variegated adenium ever. The plant produces perfect large leaves which heavily variegated with yellow. It is unnamed yet.
	Another new yellow hybrid which hasn't yet named. Leaves of this plant are smaller and paler in yellow variegation. But the plant produces abundant flowers which not often seen on variegated plants.
	While normal A. swazicum has purple flower this A. swaczium has pure white flower. It is one the most beautiful white adenium I have ever seen. Anyway the plant is not so robust and doesn't flower so freely.
	This white adenium should has A.arabicum ancestor because its round hairy leaves and robust growing habit. The plant branches freely and forms nice bush without much pruning. Flower is not so nice but it flowers well. Its name is "MongKutPetch".
	The most free flowering white hybrid called "MoRaDokLok". This hybrid is a must have plant. It is prized "The best in show" almost every time in competition. The plant produces more than 20 flowers in each group.
	Color of this hybrid change with time it bloom. On the first day of bloom the color is pale pink. As days gone, the coloer will be darker and darker. This make the plant interesting because different shade flowers can be seen on single plant. The name of plant is "NatTiDa".
	This white hybrid was very popular in the past because it has the best flower form among white adeniums. But the plant is too leggy compare to other hybrid. It was named after wife of the originator Ms. PraPaPan.
	The interesting point of this white adenium is the pale pink edge on petals. It was one of the most expensive adenium at the time first introduced. It is the No. 1 competitor of MoRaDokLok. Another must have adenium "SriAYoTaYa".
	Another color change hybrid called "SuChaWaRee". The flower is almost like NatTiDa but the plant has thin green leaves. This adenium set seed easily without hand pollination.
	This mutant adnium occured amont thousands of seed germinate. The plant is dwarf by its nature. The plant has hudreds of growing point. Its flower is incomplete and look like leaves.
