KHAFRE'S PYRAMID

The entrance leading into Khafre's pyramid. The pyramids here are easier to navigate than the one's at Sakkara and Dashur.

Looking down through the descending shaft, which is about 1 meter high and 1 meter wide.

When the shaft levels off, it opens up so you can stand up and walk the rest of the way through. The small doorway that is locked on the right, leads to a small chamber that probably held furniture, or maybe offerings to the gods. I thought it was pretty funny that the young arab couple posing in this picture thought I was taking a picture of them. They were nice, and I'm glad they are in the picture, as it shows the scale of the tunnel.

This is a shot looking back towards the entrance of the pyramid. There are two entrance passages that converge at this point.

After that, the shaft continues on for quite a distance before it reaches the main burial chamber. Click on the "next" button below to see the rest of it.
