David Lin was born in Taiwan in 1964. Immigrating to the U.S. some 15 years ago, he and his family settled in New Jersey. In the ensuing years, he developed a great fondness for the cartoon character Garfield, which in some metaphysical way may have influenced his decision to seek an undergraduate education in electrical engineering and computer science at Stevens Institute of Technology. Realizing that there was really no connection between the two, he went on to Columbia University for a master's degree. The working years after Columbia were somewhat uneventful. That is, until ...
While vacationing in Singapore, he stumbled upon a job offer. Going against the advices of his former boss and some of his friends, he began working for Hewlett-Packard Singapore in February 1994. This momentous decision seemed to have had a great impact on his outlook on life. He is doing things he's never even thought of doing before and is thoroughly enjoying himself in Singapore. Some of his experiences are detailed in the "Moving to Singapore" series. Currently, he has no plans either to return to the U.S. or to settle permanently in Singapore, but very definite plans to have as much fun as he can possibly have while in Singapore. At the mean time, he is taking full advantage of the great opportunites offered by SDU and is becoming quite a lady's man. In case you are wondering what SDU is, I shall refer you to his "Moving to Singapore" series.
