Chi Wai
Chi Wai, like Ah Bong, have been my friend for 10 years. Well, should be 11 years after the new year. We first met in the same F. 1B class and got familiar in the Tsuen Wan 22nd Scout Group. In short, that was the offical scout group for our school. The time we spent together were like some unmatched puzzle pieces. Perhaps, we did not go to the same class every year. Sometimes, we were very close, but sometimes was a completely opposite.
Anyway, the most cruel thing I did on him was linking his name to an actress's. Don't ask me! I don't know what I did that. On the other side of a coin, he should be happy because that actress is quite pretty and has good body shape (like a pair missiles. Guys, if you are familiar with HK entertainment news, you should know whom I am talking about). Alright, let's change the topic of conversation. Yeah, we were boy scouts. Somthing did happen in scout activities. I could not remember it was the first or second meeting. We were learning marching under the 33c heat. It was about 12pm afternoon. Everyone was inevitable sweating like natural falls. Suddenly we heard some crashing sound from the back. We looked and saw Chi Wai was laying on the ground! The leaders used their certified first aid knowledge on Chi Wai immedately and carried him out of the soccer field. However, marching continued!
About a year later, we were on the way for a badge (Standard badge? perhaps? can't remember what exactly what it was). We needed to hike for some distance, say 10 km, in order to pass the test. Cheung Hin (another scout) went with us. The trip was fun. Sunshie was gentle. Wind was mild. We did not do anything else except reading map and walking. We were so surprised that we could finish the journey 2 hours ahead of scheduled time! See who says we don't do well in outdoor activities.
After that trip, I dropped out of the scout group simply because the leaders were not impressive. Then, I did not meet Chi Wai until grade 9 when we sat in the same class again. About the end of the first semester, our class was selected as one of the teams in the singing contest final. The show was hosted in the center of the soccer field (not standard size), which means we performed in front of 1000 people. In the final moring, we were lining up on the stage. Suddenly, a host came by and picked Chi Wai to answer his question. The host asked why we chose that song for the contest. Chi Wai wanted to say out teacher picked it. However, he said, "it was fei liu's choice." The word "fei" means fat while "liu" refers to a Cantonese last name. Together, the two words sounds exactly the same as fertilizer in cantonese! It was lucky that Mr Liu was very open-minded. More importantly, he was holding a video camera on his shoulder!!! Dared him drop it? It was a school's property!! Later in the second semester, we formed a group for an assignment. We were supposed to use wasted materials (in other words, garbage) to make something useful. Kinda insulting the intellegence of a grade 9 student?! Fine! We took it! We had no choice. One thing I really appreciate about him is his talents in painting and making craftmanship. I don't what mark we got. Definitely, the top among the class.
Here are the photos I took for him before he left for Hawaii. Sorry, Chi Wai! These were taken almost 6 years ago. I owe you these!!
