A Fun Day
After a week of hard work it was time for
a fun day of rest and adventure. The work team from Magnolia
Wesleyan spent their last day in Suriname in a Maroon village.
Our bus took us from a hotel in downtown Paramaribo to a river
boat at Uitkijk. We traveled an hour down the river by boat to
the village of Santigron. Along the way the people got to see
some of the rain forest, including exotic trees, flowers, a manatee,
termite and bees nests.
After arriving in the village, cools drinks
and a fine meal were served to the team. A highlight of the trip
was playing with the children. The village children are always
very friendly. They put on a dance exhibition for the team late
in the afternoon. Before the dance many of us enjoyed walking
through the village or laying in a hammock.
We are
grateful for our friends who came from San Diego to help put
our floors in. They worked hard and had a great time. And in
the process they encouraged two missionary families, had an adventure,
and gained a bigger view of God's world. Cool!
