Capital Radio London

Created in the early seventies as the second Independent Local Radio station in the UK, formerly all broadcasting was from the BBC or outside of the UK's legal reach, Capital Radio followed the first station, LBC - London Broadcasting Company on air.

Initially using 539 metres in the medium waveband in 1974 the station move to 194 meters where it stayed until the splitting of FM and AM services was introduced in the eighties. 95.80 mhz was the fm outlet.

When the station started it featured offshore voices such as Kenny Everett and Dave Cash amongst others.

The clip below is of Kenny Everett. Although i taped quite a lot at the time, i later overwrote the tapes - boy am i kicking myself now.

For those particular fans of Kenny's broadcasting style, search the web and you will find some interesting sites dedicated to his memory.
