A Respite from Winter
Laura and I somehow managed to catch a flight out of the area, while snow
storms were pummelling Michigan, on and off. I got to meet Laura's best
friend Mary, Mary's partner Jamal, and got a small taste of life at Mount
Madonna. We also visited Muir Woods on the way to the town of Aurora in
Northern California. I then flew off to the island of Hawaii (AKA 'the Big
Island') The island relied much more on sugar crops than the tourist trade,
until recent years. It's still one of the quieter islands. The island has
a great variety of ecologies, facilities, and visitors. With a little sneaking
around beyond the obvious hotspots, the adventurous traveller can make some
wonderful finds.
