First Rain in 9 Months on the Checkerboard of the Gods

On this trip I explored to disparate areas of the same national forest. I visited Mazatzal Wilderness and Superstition Wilderness in Arizona. Both areas are dry, but the Mazatzal was more along the lines of the cold, windy peaks, and the Supersition, the dry mesa's and cacti. The desert is harsh. Unlike the forests, nothing seems to notice a human's presence or actions. The quiet can be a blessing or a curse. It's hard to find a picture of the places that really bear its essence. When I came back, most pictures just looked like pictures of rocks.
