What's Hot

This is where my university is located, and I had holidayed here in my childhood.

It's Australia's fastest-growing city, and the population is currently at around 400000 people. Over 30km of golden beaches are backed by towering high-rise apartment buildings and canal estates overflowing with beautiful waterfront homes and behind all that is the hinterland with its national parks filled with forest, fauna and waterfalls.

It isn't all so perfect. There is quite a lot of crime and the traffic is terrible. The weather is pretty perfect although some might find it a bit too humid.

The water temperature is great, between 18.5 degrees in the winter and 27 degrees in the summer.

Pick Restaurant:

Oscar's, Burleigh Heads. Excellent seafood, beautiful views.

Pick Fish n Chip Shop:

Nick's Fish n Chips, Nobby Beach.

Pick 5 Star Hotel:

Mariott Surfers Paradise Resort.

Pick Surfers Apartment Complex:

Aquarius on the Beach - best facilities on the coast, absolute beachfront, constantly updating.

Pick Non-Surfers Apartment Complex:

Magic Mountain, Nobby Beach. Great views, 3 pools (Lagoon, Heated and Infinity)

Pick Nightclub:

Shooters, Surfers Paradise. Dancing Coyote Ugly girls, reasonably good music, although about 6 months behind Sydney or Melbourne clubs. Get sick of it quickly though.

Pick Pool Shop:

Swimart Bundall. Excellent service and quality products.

Pick Beach for Quiet Swimming:

Miami Beach, Nobby, North Burleigh or Burleigh.

Pick Beach for Learning to Surf:

Currumbin Rocks

Pick Beach for Socialising:

Kurrawa at Broadbeach

Pick Shopping Centre:

Robina Town Centre - much more spacious and pleasant then the overcrowded and ugly Pacific Fair.

The view of the Gold Coast skyline from the approach to Coolangatta Airport.
