There are about 1500 elephants in the park. Their tusks
are comparatively small because of mineral deficiencies in their
diet and genetical defects. We saw 2 herds of about 20 elephants
each. One herd we saw near then campsite so we were able to take
a close look. They smell awful and the are flatulent. When they
are drinking it sounds like a drain. They drink in order, first
the young animals, followed by their mothers and at last the old
ones.
The next
picture shows two fighting male springboks. We obeserved them for
a while and find out that one male has several females. To
protect them from other males they fight. Fightings like this you
can see very often.
This oryx is very big. Every time we wanted to take a
picture they ran away. The horns on his head are about 1,5 m.
long. In the restaurant they served oryx: it tasted fine.
