ESPERANZA'S EQUIPMENT LIST

Esperanza is a 1985 Tayana Mark II Cutter, hull no. 481.

Engine: 50 HP Perkins 4-108 diesel (upgraded from standard).

Esperanza won 1st place in class in the 1997 Caribbean 1500 rally, and was featured on cover of Blue Water Sailing magazine in the January, 1998 issue (see photo).  The Tayana 37 is one of the most successful blue water cruisers ever produced, and was designed by noted naval architect Bob Perry.

Features and Equipment: Mark II style cockpit, fiberglass (not teak) decks, 3 custom deck prisms, 4 teak dorade boxes w/ss vents and vent protectors, all stainless steel fuel (80 gallons, located in keel, not forward) and water (100 gallons) tanks, custom 440 AMP house battery bank, high output alternator, smart 4-step regulator, west marine battery combiner, statpower smart battery charger, cruising equipment emeter, fully wired with both house 120 and 12 volt outlets, aluminum spars (tall rig) painted white polyurethane, 7 sails incl. cruising spinnaker (mostly 2 years or less), main w/dutchman reefing system w/Strong track and full battens/3 reefs, 2 large no. 27self-tailing primary winches, 2 ST secondaries, 4 halyard and reefing, manual windlass and 175' of chain, 4 anchors w/45 LB CQR, duel parallel racor "500" fuel filters with in-line manifold system, MOB pole, lifesling, davits, full flare kit, ACR 400 Mhz epirb, Dunlop offshore liferaft, vhf(2), GPS(2), loran, single side band, radar, wind speed, direction, knotmeter, depth, 2 autohelm autopilots, monitor windvane, new (99) dodger and bimini w/side curtains, new (98) 10' AB RIB w/new (98) 8 hp evinrude, documented.

Accommodations and Layout: Sleeps 9 in two cabins and the main salon. Forward cabin has a Pullman double berth to port with seat to starboard; there are two lockers with louvered doors and open bookshelf with fiddle over the berth and outboard to port, a shelf and hanging locker and drawers to starboard. There is top loading storage and three drawers under the berth. Louvered doors access the rope/chain locker forward.

The head has a separate shower stall, custom marble topped counter with storage under, a ss sink and fore and aft facing electric head. Head has a 30 gallon holding tank and y valve for overboard discharge. Opposite the head is a true wardrobe with center hanging locker flanked by drawer storage on either side, bottom lockers under, and a fiddled shelf on top.

The main salon is well lit and ventilated. Port side is an L-shaped settee which pulls out to form a double berth. Opposite to starboard, a single settee pulls out for a double berth, with a pilot berth outboard and over. The centerline table has central storage w/shelves under and two hinged leaves. (Comfortably seats 6 for dinner.) There is storage behind cushion backs and in two louvered lockers to port with a fiddled bookshelf in between.

The nav station, outboard facing the port side, has a hinged teak desk and swing out hinged seat. A quarter cabin with bi-fold door, double hanging locker and large quarterberth is located next aft to port. This cabin is well ventilated and lighted with three opening ports, deck prism, and electric fan.

Opposite ot starboard is a fine, U-shaped galley with double ss sinks on centerline, salt/fresh foot pumps and pressure hot/cold w/PUR filter, large storage bin w/ lift out container inset into the white formica galley counter, three burner Shipmate stove with oven & broiler and three louvered food lockers outboard. Above the sinks is a double cabinet with louvered doors for china and a fiddled spice shelf. Fridge and ice box are located in aft bulkhead, lined with stainless steel with full 5" insulation inboard and each is accessed by a hinged front opening door.

All bulkheads are staved, solid varnished teak, all lockers are louvered for ventilation and all bookshelves have retaining fiddles. The cabin sole is varnished solid teak and holly. Ceiling is white formica accented with teak trim. Hull walls are white vinyl accented with teak trim. The upholstery is a rich and attractive patterned navy velour in excellent condition.

Teak cap rail and teak rubrail with bronze striker, varnished laminated teak bowsprit with teak grated anchor platform and double bronze anchor rollers. Double ss bow and stern pulpits, ss stantions (properly anchored), new double lifelines with port and starboard gates. All hatches (2) and companionway have teak framed screens. 11 bronze opening ports with screens.

Color: white hull and decks with burgundy boot stripe, sail trim, covers, dodger, and bimini.
