This
is by far my favorite land. It's like walking into a real town,
with quaint shops and restaurants, a few adventures and some mean
jazz players. Wow. New Orleans Square is the place to ride some
absolute classics like Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted
Mansion. But beware if hitch-hiking ghosts!
Attractions
One of the most beloved attractions in all
of Disneyland, this fantastic achievement stands as a monument to
Walt and his Imagineers' ingenuity. The story is simple: you
drift into an old man's memory, back to when he was a pirate in
the Caribbean. It's a relatively tame ride, with two small drops.
The ride is awesome! This is one of those sit back, relax and
enjoy the scenery rides. Some people are mad because it's not
politically correct, and I say it's a historical portrayal; try
as you might, you can never change history. Anyway, enjoy this
Disney masterpiece!

999 Happy Haunts call this stately old
mansion home. And you will too if you stay long enough....just
kidding. Anyway, this is one of my absolute favorites (can you
see why I love this land?)! For 1969, man, this thing is awesome!
I mean, the special effects were decades before their time. And
for those asking, this ride is not frightening, unless you're a
small child. It's actually a lot of fun. Pay attention to all the
details surrounding you, you may find some interesting surprises.
Man, I want that wallpaper!

The Disney Gallery
Not really an attraction,
but this charming little-known gallery sits directly above
Pirates of the Caribbean and attracts true Disneyana and
Disneyland fans. Imagineering's concept art, posters, models and
everything can be found up here. It's a lot of fun to see what
the newest attractions (and oldies) almost turned out like....and
things that never made it past the drawing board. And, there's
lots of nifty stuff for sale!
USUAL WAIT: None.
Characters!
Like Tomorrowland, no characters call New Orleans Square their homes, but the Brer critters sometimes drift through this area, and every once in awhile you might spot a character, but not often.
Live Shows!
Numerous bands and acts perform in New Orleans Square throughout the day, and they are all fantastic! Check your guidemap for times.
Optimal viewing spots for Fantasmic! are found here. Note: For $35 a head, you can sit at the top of The Disney Gallery and watch Fantasmic! from there, along with a dessert buffet.
