Our trip toTanzania began on a bus, the mythical Metro Coach. It was a 600 km trip which was to take more than eight hours, from Dar es Salam to Arusha.
At each of the numerous stops you are overwhelmed by crowds of children and women wearing their colorful kangas offering us the most incredible array of goods to buy ... so many faces, so many colors ... | ![]() ![]() ![]()
We arrived at Arusha in the late afternoon. It is a small town of about 150,000 inhabitants and is the undisputed tourist capital as it is so close to both the main national parks and to Kilimanjaro.
The town was built on the edges of Masai territory and it is common to see Masai in what was for us their traditional dress along the streets, in the markets and at thebus stations of the town. | ![]() ![]()
Despite this urban setting the Masai have lost nothing of their fascination. |
