Circle LIne Sightseeing cruises have been providing guided tours of the New York waterways for more than 50 years.
The Harbor Lights Cruise is a romantic two-hour cruise that sets sail at dusk - providing both sunset and nighttime views of Manhattan. It sails around the tip of Manhattan and out to the Statue of Liberty as the sun sets. It runs from late March through November.

Other custom cruises sail throughout the season including two-hour Family Cruises and the Circle Line Captain's Club - a series of cruises organized for seniors. You can hop off and on as many times as you like, allowing you to customize your tour. The Full City Tour covers two consecutive days. The bus travels along major routes and by all the most popular sights including the Empire State Building, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and Lincoln Center. The bus travels the length of Manhattan, allowing you to visit the neighborhoods from Chinatown to Soho to the Upper East Side. Spend some time on Museum Mile or walking through Central Park, before re-boarding the bus and visiting South Street Seaport or Greenwich Village. There is also a drop off points for Liberty Helicopters which also gives excellent aerial tours.
The Statue of Liberty Express includes the Full City Tour plus the ferry ticket to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and is a great way to avoid the inevitable lines for buying ferry tickets.
World Yacht Dinner CruisesThere are quite a few restaurants in New York that offer great views of the city. None of them, however, can rival the ever-changing view of Manhattan offered by a cruise which circumnavigates the island. From the Downtown Heliport you can fly over New York Harbor past the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan sites in only 4½ minutes on the Statue Express. The Torch of Freedom tour adds to the Statue Express with a tour of the United Nations, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburgh Bridges and the 110-story twin towers of the World Trade Center. Manhattan's Grand Canyons allows you to soar through the canyons of Manhattan's skyscrapers and get close-up views of sights such as the Empire State Building, Times Square and Central Park. From the West Side Heliport, the Liberty Sampler takes you past the USS Intrepid, the Empire State Building, and then up the Hudson River to Central Park. The Torch of Freedom and Manhattan's Grand Canyons are also available from the midtown location. In addition, The Big Picture(offered at both locations) is the most comprehensive tour available. It provides nearly twenty minutes of sightseeing from the Statue of Liberty to the Bronx. You can get a bird's-eye view of all the attractions included in the other tours plus Yankee Stadium, the George Washington Bridge, and the East and Harlem rivers. All tours are conducted in state of the art jet helicopters, featuring climate-controlled cabins and unobstructed views from every seat - perfect for picture taking. As you walk along the streets of Lower Manhattan, you will notice a trail of brightly colored dots on the sidewalks. The map the "trails" of one of New York's most popular guided walking tours - Heritage Trails New York. Four different trails highlight more than fifty landmarks and historical sites, covering four-and-a-half miles. The Green Trail is the most comprehensive and includes Federal Hall National Monument, the New York Stock Exchange, the Dutch City Hall Archeology Site, Castle Clinton and Battery Park, and more. The trails are always updated and new sites are added regularly. Highlights of some of the other trails include the South Street Seaport, Brooklyn Bridge and the World Trade Center. Founded in 1893, The Municipal Art Society is a private, non-profit organization whose original aim was to beautify New York with public art. It has adapted its goals to the times and today directs its efforts toward making New York a more habitable city (an enterprise welcomed by harried New Yorkers). It champions preservation in New York City by assisting organizations that need guidance with planning, land use, zoning and development issues. The Municipal Art Society has been critical in the survival of many historical buildings. The tours, which are led by architectural and urban historians, explore famous neighborhoods and districts such as Greenwich Village, the Flatiron District, and Wall Street. Ethnic historians lead tours of Litte Italy and Chinatown and the Lower East Side, pointing out New York's rich multi-cultural communities. Every Wednesday at 12.30pm the society sponsers free tours of Grand Central Terminal. Since tours and meeting times vary, it is best to call ahead to request a listing of the upcoming scheduled tours. Reservations are not required for weekday walking tours, but they are sometimes necessary for Saturday walking tours.
