| Kiyone rarely appeared in the OAV, Tenchi Muyo!, but she becomes a regular in Tenchi Universe. Of all the characters, Kiyone is probably the most serious, hard-working character of all that appears in the course of the series. She is a skilled officer and is dedicated to her job. She may have even been promoted, had she not been stuck with Mihoshi. She and Mihoshi are complete opposites in just about every way imaginable. Despite her constant and detailed descriptions of how much she hates Mihoshi, and how dumb Mihoshi is, and how Mihoshi has ruined her life, and...well, you see what I'm getting at, Mihoshi still clings to Kiyone like a sister. Kiyone comes to Earth reluctantly in search of her missing, and pressumed dead, partner (but, people just don't get that lucky). She arrives on the planet, only to find Mihoshi living with not only two missing Jurain princesses, but the infamous, most-wanted space pirate Ryoko. This revalation is followed by a battle to capture Ryoko, ending abruptly when Mihoshi crashes a combat suit into the fray. Kiyone and Mihoshi were about to leave Earth, until they received an order from headquarters to stay. And thus, the Masaki household has a new member of the family. |
