In order to understand how to have peace in our lives we must understand what peace is...

"and a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern asleep on a pillow and they awoke Him and said to Him, 'teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?' Then He arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, 'peace be still!' and the wind ceased and there was a great calm. but He said to them, 'why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?'"
Mark 4:37-40 (NKJV)

Peace, as revealed here by Jesus, is the lack of fear; being still and secure in the power of God while everything rages on.

"and He said to her, 'daughter your faith has made you well. God in peace, and be healed of your affliction.'"
Mark 5:34 (NKJV)

"then He said to the woman, 'your faith has saved you. go in peace."
Luke 7:50 (NKJV)

"and He said to her, "daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.'"
Mark 4:37-40 (NKJV)

"Go in peace" Let the faith that healed you sustain you and give you peace in the assurance of God.

so how do we attain this peace in our lives?

#1. have the spirit of God alive in our hearts

"but when the holy spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control..."
Galatians 5:22-23a (NL-emphasis mine)

#2. agree with God

"stop quarreling with God! If you agree with him, you will have peace at last, and things will go well for you."
Job 22:21 (NL)

#3. love God's law

"great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble."
Psalm 199:165 (NKJV)

#4. keep your mind on Christ

"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You."
Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)

#5. heed God's commandments

"oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea."
Isaiah 48:18 (NKJV)

"the work of righteousness will be peace..."
Isaiah 32:17 (NKJV)

"but there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good - for the jew first and also for the gentile"
Romans 2:10 (NKJV)

A lot of scriptures listed above are spoken in the form of a promise from God. IF you do all of these things, God promises you will have peace!

For peace through Jesus Christ (Acts 10:36) is gift (John 14:27) for all mankind (Luke 2:14)!

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace, in the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
John 16:33 (NKJV)
