Wanna fish for carp eh?  Well here's the scoop.

Carp, mud sucker, you name it,its one big mean ugly fish that would bust your rod&reel if your line dosent go first. They hit hard and run and if your bail isnt open or your drag is to tight you lost your pole.

A rod holder is a key for these big bad boys unless your gonna keep a tight grip on it all the time.
Another important thing is your line, use a clear or low visability line thats about 12-20 lb. test the carp in the lake might not be that big but after a few minutes of fighting one of these guys your line is gonna get weak. They like to swim back and forth and who knows what they might be hitting it on underwater.
Hooks are a matter of what you like. I've seen people use small "8" to "0/2" I like "3" for carp as well as for catfish.
Bait can be as simple as a can of corn to 24hr.  homemade doughball. A carp will pretty much take anything even worms but i find the corn and bright colored doughballs work the best.
The best time to fish for these guys are in the early a.m. , mid afternoon and night. They are big and they are hungry. Try chummin the area with duck pellets or corn and they will be swarming around you.
Early summer and early fall seem to be the best time for carp. They spawn in mid summer and theres no chance at'em .
Cleaning carp is as hard as catching them but its worth the effort. Before deep-frying them "I love" be sure to score the meat...that is...cut 1/8 inch slice across the body. They're full of little bones and boy do they hurt stuck in the gums!
