Oh boy! Catfish! WOO HOO  our fav! These critters are fun, tasty and just an all out good time beer drinking fish.....gotta love'em!

Basically anything you throw out thats dead or alive can catch a catfish. From turkey livers to goldfish they eat about anything....cept them bass lures.
Just like the carp its a good idea to use a rodholder or keep a tight grip on it,cats can get big and when they decide to hit, they hit hard. 8-12lb test is fine but if you go on the rivers or bigger lakes 20-100lb test is not uncommon. Fishing on the bottom with a tight line works great using little or no weight but on the rivers and bigger lakes a weight on the bottom might be handy.
Watch out for those little flesh ripping fins! One slice can mean a whole days worth of hurt! The old way story goes that if you get sliced suck on the area instantly and rub the cut on the side or back of the catfish to get its slime in the wound......sounds sick but after being stuck a few times I have to say.....by golly that works!!
Best time to fish for these guys is at night. Hands down you cant go wrong but if you cant, early a.m. or late p.m..
Catfish bite year-round but the spring and late summer seem to be the best with fall being very busy.
Baked,deep fried,pan fried,grilled,theres no wrong way with these fella's
