*Valentines Update* 16th April '03 People have been asking why things have been so quiet on the Valentine Front this last month, but The Valentines are going through lot of changes and expected to be coming back bigger and better than ever to kick start the summer in style!!! Just think of this as the quiet before the storm! Preparations are underway for the release of their first Single, a new EP, a new Promo Video, a new Website, a new Drummer and guess wot ........ the bassplayer (Dougie) has even bleached his hair!!! 9th March '03 Following 3 very successful gigs in Dublin, Belfast and Strabane this week, the band are currently concentrating on preparation and recording our new EP. More gigs in Dublin are in the pipeline 5th March '03 Battle of The Bands Fever!!! The Valentines are to play at the Tennents UU Battle of the Bands and Channel 9 Battle of The Bands in the next month. 23rd February '03 The Valentines confirmed to perform at a special charity night at The Melmount Centre, Strabane on the 14th March 22nd February '03 The Valentines begin work on the 'Light The Fuse E.P.' at Drive-By-Banjo Studios, Lifford, under sound supremo Rick Gibson, who also produced Aurel's infamous debut E.P. as well a recording for The Evangelists and Loaded 19th February '03 The Valentines played to a packed house at The Menagerie, Belfast. This was the bands first gig under their new name. 15th February '03 THE RIFFS BECOME THE VALENTINES!!!!!! just the name has changed, nothing else 26th January '03 The Riffs played alongside a consortium of local Strabane bands to a packed house at Dicey's in aid of the Phoebe Lyle Trust Fund. The event raised over £1300 for the young girl who was victim of a tragic road incident which left her permanently disabled. 10th January '03 The Riffs are to kick start their promotion of their new 'Light The Fuse E.P' in Dublin. The band will be performing a live session for Newstalk 106FM at 10.30 on Fri 28th Feb, followed be a Live acoustic set from Tower Records in the center of Dublin the next day and then a gig that night at one of Dublin's most notorious Rock venues 'The Voodoo lounge' more to follow ....... 1st january '03 Negotiations are underway for a groundbreaking Music Alliance - The Riffs are to team up with top English Underground Hip-Hop act HB FAM to bring two high profile shows to venues in both Belfast and Manchester and the possibility of a collaboration single, more to follow ..... 28th december '02 - The Riffs performed to 150 strong crowd at Murphy's On The Green in Strabane with Lese Majesty and The Usual Suspects in one of the in one of the finest nights of rock the small Tyrone town has seen. The same line-up will be taking to the stage again on the 14th Feb at the same venue - definitely one for the diary's!!! 24th december '02 - MONTH OF SUNDAYS demo available for download!!! 23rd december '02 - The Riffs have begun work on the 'light the fuse' EP. recent rehearsal sessions have proved very productive and a finalised song list should be available soon 23rd december '02 - up and coming Belfast band The Grace have confirmed that they will be supporting The Riffs in the menagerie on the 19th February '03 16th december '02 - The band had their first photo shoot on location near their home town of Strabane. see gallery 11th december '02 - The Riffs performed to a packed house in The Menagerie Belfast. The Riffs played with strabane supremo bands Lese Majestys and The Avari. The Riffs have confirmed to return to the venue on the 19th Feb '03 10th december '02 - The Riffs recieved a glowing review on Radio Failte. The band hits Month of Sundays and Waiting for the Sky to Fall were played on the popular alternative music show. 8th december '02 - The Riffs confirmed to play at the Frontpage bar Belfast 5th march |
