Opened in July 1999 the Dynamic Earth Centre tells the story of the planet earth from the big bang to the present day.

Cost of entry, as of June 2001, is £6.95 for adults and £3.95 for children and OAP's, you are, however, advised to check with the centre for up to date admission prices. Family tickets are available and offer a substantial saving for the family.

The centre is situated at the foot of the Royal Mile near Holyrood Palace and is only a short walk from the vast majority of Edinburgh's main attractions. It is open 7 days a week and you can easily spend the whole day there or combine it with some of the nearby attractions.

The centre is best described as a high tech futuristic interactive museum with plenty to see and do. The centre aims to provide an insight into how the natural forces of nature have shaped the world in which we live, the impact of volcanoes, earthquakes, and the oceans are all considered.

The centre will take you from the depths of the ocean to the heights of the polar region to achieve it's objective of understanding the world in which we live; interactivity is encouraged at every stage.

The centre suits all ages but it is the effect that it has on children that makes a visit a must when you are in Edinburgh. See young eyes light up when a volcano erupts or a great white shark swims by. Perhaps the greatest recommendation is the number of Scottish schools who see a visit to the centre as an essential part of the school curriculum.
