Kinson Common
13th August 2006

Another Local show, Just down the road

Sir Austin enjoys rubbing shoulders with important people

Sir Austin (with some help from a young lady named Milly) proves that although our blades are blunt,
they hurt when they hit you.

"Are You Lonesome Tonight?..."
Sir Austin does his best Elvis impression

The group's two Squires are not just good with swords, there're pretty good at Tug-Of-War too.

It's not easy to commentate when your Squire's throttling you with your own chainmail

Please excuse the blurring on the next shots, but then, they are ACTION shots after all.

Lulworth Castle Medieval Festival - 3rd September 2006

We attended Lulworth Castle on 3rd September 06 on the off-chance of joining in, but, due to constraints on the Organiser’s insurance, we were unfortunately unable to take part in the battle. Perhaps next time……..  However, one good thing, among others to come from that day, was the joining into the group of  Mathew Ridings.

The Knights of Wessex in front of Lulworth Castle with their Squires

German Medieval Uber-Rockers, Schelmish, perform for the crowd

Does this give you a good idea what happens to people who
DON'T pay the admission fee?

A Genuine Jester and His "Genuine" Ferret

Lulworth Castle - Nice Isn't it?

A Medieval Camp with some beautiful Dorset Countryside behind it.

Horsemen - and Women - re-enact the past times of Medieval Gentry

Who is that Hooded Man?........

.....it's John of The Bowmen Of Woodland.  Here he is with Freyja (centre) & her Husband Ragnar (right),  two other Bowmen members

Some knights fight for the hand of the fair lady ...........Personally I'd go down the dinner & drinks road!!

PDSA Christmas Carnival, Boscombe,
November 2006

While we were at the Kinson Common show in August, a nice lady from the PDSA asked us to attend and take part in their annual carnival though the streets of Boscombe.  The one thing was, it was in November....which meant the Knights wouldn't be passing out from the heat in their armour..... although stopping draughts is something else entirely!  We of course said Yes and here are some pictures taken by the PDSA, which they kindly sent to us. This was Matthew Ridings' first public show.
The Squire strikes a pose..... The Baron has strap trouble.
"Where's my Squire when I need him...?" "HE'S BEHIND YOU...!!"
"Advance The Colour!" The March begins.

Hmmm.....Shiny!!!!

I guess getting up early on a Sunday Morning has it's benefits.
The Wessex Household was honoured with Third Place.

We have also been invited to participate at the 2007 event.

Even though it was DAMN cold, we managed to raise a smile

Christmas 2006

The Shop Assistant Squire.......

.......And The Ice-Skating Page

Ok, so this is not technically a show, but it IS two members of the household in kit.  Squire Fredrick is wearing his dress kit and Jupon, with the addition of Sir Austin's Haubergeon on his last working day of 2006, while Matthew Ridings shows off the new Hauberk and Pauldrons that he got for Christmas, while at the same time attempting to stay upright on an Ice rink.  ( Comment- He DID, apparently, manage to keep from getting an icy backside. Whether this was through balance or chainmaille between him and the cold stuff is not recorded.... Sir Austin.)
