I always said that Sir Austin's age
would get the better of him one day. Only kidding. For a
convention party that Squire Fredrick was going to with the fine folks
from USS.
Pendragon, he wanted to go as...wait for it.....A KLINGON!! So
Sir Austin was roped into helping him with cutting out an MDF Batt'leth,
since the good Squire is not too keen to risk his fingers with an Electric
Jigsaw. Swords Yes, Power Tools No. As you can see, Sir Austin
couldn't resist a little swing of the freshly cut object when it was
done.....only fair I suppose. And if you want to know how The Squire got on at this here convention.............SEE BELOW..................... |
This Is what the good Squire gets up to
when he isn't with us. Scary isn't it?? Here is the Batt'leth from the picture above all painted up for an evenings carnage, I mean fun. (Comment: With all due deference, The Squire looks the part more than I do, until I take the plunge and let him make me up to look like this.....Sir Austin) Just for your information, The event that the Squire went to is called the SFBall, run by a group of fans who help raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Care by organising this type of event on a yearly basis. For more info, or to go to the SFBall, click here UPDATE: Squire Fredrick left the Ball with more than autographs this year.........She goes by the name of Lady Mary!!!! |

St.George's Lecture, 1st Hamworthy Cubs, Hamworthy, Poole, Dorset.
Mon 16th April 2007 After being contacted by the leader of a local cub group, the Wessex (ok, 3 of them) went along to teach the Cubs (and Beavers) how a real knight was prepared for battle, and how he fought. While there, Sir. Austin & Sir. James assisted in the investiture of 2 new Beavers. |
Marriage Blessing , Mae Govannen, Fordingbridge, Hampshire.
Sat 5th May 2007 As a favour to Squire Fredrick's Lady, Sir. Austin, Sir. James & Lady Ann acted as guard of honour at the renewal of her parents vows. This would be one of the few times that the worlds of Re-enactment and The Lord Of The Rings would come together (although somehow, I don't think it will be the last). The Wessex left with several new friends, and a new member, Lady Mary.

Harry Potter Day , USS.Pendragon, Southampton, Hampshire.
Sat 2nd
June 2007 Thanks to Squire Fredrick & Lady Mary's membership of The USS Pendragon, The Wessex was able to re-acquaint itself with the fine people over in Woolston, Southampton, and help them with their Harry Potter themed open day. Although the turn out was not as large as was hoped, the weather was great, the people that were there had a wonderful time and Sir Austin and Matthew Ridings managed to get some practise in.

St. Faith's Fair, Ye Olde George,
Christchurch, Dorset
Sat 6th
October 2007 A nice easy one as we are getting to the end of the season, God I'm KNACKERED!! No heavy Armour, or marching (except a couple of helmets and a stroll through the gate to get it started). The 750th anniversary of the charter given to Christchurch by Henry the 3rd to hold a fair on the feast of St Faith. The event lasted 3 hours to mark the 3 days of the original celebration |
