Iraq - A matter of opinion the world over. Everyone has different views. Either love Saddam (Sadman) Hussein or loathe him. THINK! This man has murdered thousands upon thousands of people, tortured thousands more, even his own countrymen, ended innocent lives of pregnant mothers, their children, their babies. Made war on his neighbour, Iran and invaded Kuwait. And he's happy to do this. And if we let him, he'll do it again, and again, and again.....
It amazes me that every time the French find it possible to do anything against Britain, they revel in it. Even when everyone knows they're totally wrong, even themselves.
Fact - The French can't fight and win their own wars (Indo China, Algeria, WW1, WW2, etc, etc.) Fact - The French always need bailing out of trouble. Fact - It's always the British and Americans who have to bail them out. Fact - They have very short memories. |

|
Fact - They can go howl at the moon next time they need help..... Oh yes..... Don't forget this either. The French had contracts worth $18 Billion with Saddam before the conflict. I wonder what will happen to them now? Maybe this is the real reason for them being against the conflict. You decide.....
And then there's the Russians. Suddenly lots of sophisticated Russian military equipment turns up in Saddam's grasp. Makes you wonder why they didn't want the US and UK to go to war doesn't it? Was the real reason that they didn't want the world to find out about alleged illegal trade in arms and banned goods? Really makes you think, doesn't it?
The people I really feel sorry for though are those that have been so totally brainwashed by the lies told by Saddam and his cronies and followers. In many Arab countries, as we see on TV, they truly think Saddam Hussein is good...! If only they could see the truth. It's out there but sadly it's invisible to blind and confused eyes. They WILL find out the truth in time and it will hurt them greatly to finally realise they've been wrong and lied to for so, so long. It saddens me.
Then there are the innocents who consider themselves to be anti-war. We're all anti-war though. No sensible human being is FOR war. It's something that just happens and will always happen as long as there are tyrants, despots, dictators and madmen out there trying to take a piece, if not all of this beautiful world for themselves. They have to be removed. It's as simple as that. And don't forget, even if you're anti-war, to Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, you're still an infidel.....
These innocents convince themselves of ulterior motives behind conflicts even when the blinding light of truth is shining in their eyes. It's as though they don't want to face up to the facts. They don't want their theories to go up in smoke. A sad selfishness seems to take them over. These too, will eventually learn the truth and will melt away into the background, until the next time.....
Oh yes, don't forget about the gas, will you? The VX nerve gas and mustard gas that Saddam hasn't got. And the Scuds, the ones which have been destroyed by Patriot anti missile missiles over Kuwait recently. The Scuds that Saddam Hussein hasn't got, remember? Let's hope he hasn't got any biological weapons, like he said he didn't have, huh?
Which brings us to Iraq and the Iraqi people themselves. Their country has been administered by Britain for 40 years until quite recently, from the end of WW2 in 1918 until 1958 when the running of the country was handed back to an Iraqi administration. Which was then promptly taken over by the Iraqi military and in whose hands it has remained ever since in one form or another.
Some Iraqi refugees, in Britain since the Kuwaiti invasion by Saddam have voiced their condemnation of the coalition for "invading" Iraq. Although repeatedly told that it's not an invasion per se, it's to get rid of Saddam and his feared Ba'ath Party once and for all, they want it stopped immediately. Question: How else will they get rid of Saddam? They have no other ideas and they've done nothing at all to remove him since the Gulf War. That was over 12 years ago and since then he's grown much more powerful! If left to his own devices, this sadistic, totally evil "Spawn of the Devil" will remain in power, at the expense and suffering of every man, woman and child living in Iraq and the countries surrounding him.
It's understandable to me that Iraqi refugees are torn between their love of their homeland and their personal safety, but if a person lives in a country other than their own, as a refugee or otherwise, they must be prepared to accept and live by the ways of that country - or move on.
Postscript
Think also of the British troops that have died on Iraqi soil for the just causes in which they fought over the last century. WW1, WW2, the Gulf War and now this most recent conflict, the Iraq War. More than 50,000 British troops are buried in cemetaries in Iraq.... Lest anyone forget.
