Helpless Hero

Well, this poem was written just as it reads. Standing alone in the rain on a cold day with all these thoughts running through my mind. Written about experiences of helplessness when persons very close and important to me are in need. Seeing pain and unhappiness but being unable to help is a total pain in the ass.

Standing in the pouring rain,
The world as bitter as the wind at my back.
She is my salvation now,
The lone force keeping this crazy mind sane.
Bound and gagged I look to her face,
Tears of pain stain her smile of hope.
Irony fills my lungs of life,
She was always there.
Yet my help is useless today,
Give her my heart and hand through life.
Rooted by her side yet far from reach.
A damsel in distress,
Eyes of love in search of help.
A knight brought to his knees,
Loves trusty sword can't save her tonite...

...For I am her helpless hero...

...and today is not for me.
