It's so nice to have the snow gone. In Wilkinson news I got Winstock tickets the other nite! So I'll be seeing the gang June 8th in Winsted, MN at a huge local country music festival (if anyone's going and would like to meet up email me). I can't wait, I haven't seen the Wilks since July and I really miss them. It will be cool to hear some new music too! On another note can you all believe Tyler's going to be 18 this month? Seems like only yesterday he was 14...I remember first time I met them he was as short as me, now it's like whoa. I've been thinking and this year I want to do something other than a card from the Word. So be sure to read on and I'll give you all the details about this years Word Project for Tyler. Other than that nothing much else new here. On a sad note Vanessa isn't able to make it down here this summer. I may still be going to Hodag with another friend, but I don't know yet. Cuba Rocks! and you Americans who dont have the chance that we lucky Canadians have you guys are missin out! make peace! I must say if it seems like it takes a long time between issues of the word...i have to apologize...chances are its my fault and my lack of time to edit...but ill try and get better as time goes on! i promise! and email me and hound me to get it done! i need motivation! and money so i dont have to work...and someone to do my homework so i dont have to go to school....any takers? :O) but until next time...take care! *~*What's Happenin' at the Office...Word News*~* Tyler's Birthday Project 2002... That's right folks, it's back. Tyler will be turning 18 April 30th and the Word wants to do something special for him. This year instead of doing a card we're doing something a little different. What: a postcard book Rules: Pick up a postcard at your local mall/gas station/wherever (it can be from a nearby big city, or a local attraction there Example: if you live in Minnesota you may send a Mall of America one or in Florida a Disneyworld one). Write a short message to Tyler on the postcard and sign your name. Mail it to Tracey. She will take all the postcards and put them into a little photo album and give it to Tyler at Winstock in June. When: We need the postcards before Friday, June 7th so if you want to make sure they get here mail them before Tuesday, June 4th. Mail all postcards to: Tracey Ecklund 578 Witt Ct. Vadnais Hgts. MN 55127 You don't have to put your address on them, but we do ask for at least a first name so we'll know who it's from. The reason we ask for postcards from your area is so that the Wilkinsons can see things from all the different places we live. If for some reason you are not able to send a postcard but want to be in the book I guess we can accept a few emails, but try and send us a postcard if you can. Thanks! *~*Yes We've Got It...The Wilkinsons Latest News*~* Juno Awards... On a sad note the Wilkinsons did not win the Juno. The Juno Awards were held on April 15th in New Foundland Canada. The Wilkinsons were up for Best Country Artist/Group but lost out to Carolyn Dawn Johnson. Congratulations go to Steve, Amanda, and Tyler for being nominated because even being nominated is a huge honor. Fan Fair... Good news for all you Fan Fair goers. The Wilkinsons have confirmed! They will be at the IFCO show Tuesday June 11th at Ryman Auditorium (for tickets call 615-371-9596 and be sure to tell them you're a Wilkinson fan). Then from June 13th-16th they will be signing autographs at their very own booth at Fan Fair. Be sure to stop by and say hi, get a picture signed if you're attending Fan Fair. Thursday June 13th they will also be participating in the City of Hope softball game. For tickets to that and Fan fair visit http://www.ticketmaster.com No word on if there is going to be a Fan Club Party yet, but we will definitely keep you all posted. New Single... Thanks to Kyurra for this news: The new single, titled "Nobody Died" is set for release sometime in early May. The album is slated for an early summer release. The Wilkinsons already have all the singles picked out for the album or so we hear. Email us. ~*Good Ole Articles*~ Wednesday, July 11, 2001 All in the family fun By LISA WILTON Calgary Sun Pleasant.If there's one word that sums up the Wilkinsons, that would be it. The talented singing clan from Ontario never quite dazzle, although they are competent and confident performers. Powered by 19-year-old Amanda Wilkinson's soulful roof-rattling vocals, the trio treated a crowd of about 2,000 to more than an hour of pop/rock fuelled country at the Coca-Cola stage last night. The band -- which also features Amanda's 17-year-old brother Tyler and their father Steve -- showed why they are multiple CCMA-award winners and ACMA nominees. But their live show also reveals why they haven't sold more records. Unlike many other country acts -- and teenage pop stars -- the Wilkinsons refrain from over-the-top stage antics and slick performance gimmicks. Most importantly, Amanda hasn't been gussied up and undressed as a cheap marketing ploy. (Tyler, however, will probably be used in the future as a chick magnet.) Instead the Wilkinsons worked the crowd with their finely tuned harmonies and catchy well-written songs like Fly (The Angel Song), Nobody Died Of A Broken Heart and their biggest hit to date, 26 Cents. While Pa Wilkinson didn't say much -- acting more as an anchor for his energetic offspring -- he did comment on Calgary's roasting weather.
