Indus River Civilization
Religion: (Refer to Compare and contrast chart)  Hinduism and Buddhism
Society/Social Life:  ”City of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro  people” Most people worked the land.  Grew wheat, barley, rice, and cotton.  Engaged in industry and commerce.  Mass-production of clay pots.  Soapstone seals.
Environment/Geography:  subcontinent of South Asia.  Present day India, Pakistan, and India.  Bordered by Himalayas and Hindu Kush.  Plains.  3 rivers (Indus, Ganges, and Brahmaputa Rivers).  At delta form fertile land for growing.  Monsoons (seasonal winds).  Heaving raining season.  Flooding!
Other characteristics:
Traded w/ Mesopotamia as early as 2300 B.C.  Pictograms on seals they placed on packages.  Lacked written records.  Worshiped Gods associated w/ natural forces.  By 1500 B.C., city of Harappan.  Caste system.
