Harley Race really got himself on the mat in the AWA, teaming up with Larry Hennig to win the AWA World Tag Team Titles in 1965. Harley left the AWA to try a singles career in NWA, but returned to the AWA in 1984 to wrestle Curt Hennig.

In the NWA, Harley Race won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship eight times, defeating men such as Terry Funk, Ric Flair, Dory Funk Jr, and Dusty Rhodes.

Harley also wrestled in the WWF, and there, was named "The King" Harley Race. He won the King of the Ring tournament in 1986, way before it was ever held as an annual competition. One of his most memorable matches in WWE was against The Junkyard Dog at WrestleMania III.

Harley Race is one of the toughest guys to ever step foot in a professional wrestling ring. His record setting eight NWA World Title runs is still one that is hard to compete with today.
