NWA National Television Champion

Jake Roberts was the son of legendary wrestler, Grizzly Smith. He is also the half-brother to Sam Houston and Rockin' Robin.

After making his debut in 1975, he wrestled mainly in the Georgia, Texas, and Oklahoma territories. Roberts invented the move, the DDT, and actually did it by accident. Jake Roberts made his debut with the WWE in 1986.

After joining the WWE, he began to bring a phython, named Damien, to ringside with him. Jake would wrap the big snake around opponent's bodies after defeating them.

He had many memorable feuds with legends such as Rick "The Dragon" Steamboat, The Honky Tonk Man, "Ravishing" Rick Rude, and fellow Wrestling Crew Hall of Famer, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase.

During his feud with The Honky Tonk Man, he was hit with a real guitar, which lead to his future of serious neck problems. This guitar shot took place in an interview segment which was called "The Snake Pit". This interview segment obviously belonged to Jake, and he would talk to guests there.

Later on, after a heel turn, Jake introduced a cobra named Lucifer, and aligned himself with the Undertaker.

After a feud with Randy Savage, he left for a brief stint in WCW. He then left the business due to personal problems with drugs and alcohol. He returned to WWE in 1996 after getting clean. He also had a short run in ECW in 1998.

Jake Roberts gave some of the greatest interviews in the business, and has some very entertaining matches. He has appeared eight times throughout his career at the biggest show in wrestling, WWE's WrestleMania.
