La Salette

Brief History

Our Lady the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to 2 young shepherds, Melanie & Maximin on the mountain of  La Salette a small village in France on september 19, 1846 on the feast of "Our Lady of Sorrows."  She confined a public message to both of them, then a secret to Maximin alone, and then to Melanie a secret message that she could publish in 1858.  Our Lady looked very sad with tears in her eyes, folding her arms over her breast.  Our Lady spoke over people that were disobeying God's Laws.  She said: "If my people do not obey God, I shall be forced to let go of My Sons Hand, you will never be able to repay Me for what I have done for you."  On this apparition Our Lady asked us to pray a lot to save the world, to confess our sins, turn away from evil ways to do penance & pray.  In this apparition also Mary emphasized the great blessings & mercy in reciting the Holy Rosary and begged us to reconcile with God.  As said previously Our Lady confined a secret to Maximin & one to Melanie.  Both secrets were written and handed to Pope Pius IX in 1851.  The secrets were revealing the following: 1.Three quarters of the population of France shall loose their Faith 2. A protestant nation in the north will repent & proclaim their faith, because of this other nations will return to God. 3.  The Holy Church shall prosper once more. 4. After this, peace will be disturbed once again by the"Monster", This great monster shall come at the end of the 19th centuary and the begining of the 20th centuary. Our Lady told Melanie a secret that she could reveal in 1958 (This is the year Our Lady appeared in Lourdes), she told her of the coming attempt to murder the Pope, which would not shorten his life.  Our Lady also  warned that faith would be lost on a large scale, leaving room for materialisim, false teaching (Karl Marx published his communist manifest in 1848), and many other sins.  She also said that all those who persecute the Church of Jesus Christ & all those people who have surrendered themselves to sin will die and earth will be like a desert.  Then there shall be peace, the reconciliation between God & man, thus there will be people alive. This apparition was approved by the Church on November16,1851
