Know You Wanna Get Edgy

1. By all accounts it’s not just their music which is edgy, but the tongues on 3rd Edge
are pretty sharp too.

Kicking the urban pop scene with In And Out last year, the trio – J Tee, Dan and Tom
– ‘fess up to Ace their dislike for three Westlifers.

People classed us as a garage act, bring on the scandal chaps – and lets discuss your
wicked new tune Know You Wanna, while we’re at it. J Tee…

2. Westlife should retire – and all except Mark need to learn some manners. So say
3rd Edge, claiming the Westies were rude to Tom 3rd Edge at a gig.

Tom knew Westlife from doing roadshows before he was in the band explains J Tee.
He said hi at a gig and they blanked him. Except Mark. Arrogant!

Bryan started singing some country and Western thing – taking the mick and kept
talking to someone else.

3. 3rd Edge have just completed a school tour, taking in their old learning grounds
even tho Tom once pushed a teacher in a swimming pool!

Dan was a bit of a rebel too, confides J Tee. We just wanna get as successful as we
can with the band. Get out there and have fun.

When we were developing, producers would say the tracks were edgy and different.
That’s how we got the name.

4. From messing around Mcing in a club to making an alb, 3rd Edge are firmly on the
right path to turn the urban scene on to their sounds.

Tom’s uncle introduced J Tee to Tom after they’d DJ’d in the same venue and when
Dan took the mic one night, the group came together.

Years ago, Tom had a solo deal, and toured with the likes of Peter Andre. Their tour
manager was Peter Andre’s dancer.

5. With their slick moves and sharp sound its easy to see 3rd Edge having a huge hit
with Know You Wanna. People even compare ‘em to Blue…

It’s not annoying cos they’re very successful, says J tee. If we could get to their status
– great.

As in the look and sound we don’t think we’re anything like them but you’re always
going to be compared. It’s better than Rikki and Daz!

6. 3rd Edge are a trio, but they very nearly added a fourth member. They auditioned a
rapper, Harry but finally decided to stay as a three.

I felt so sorry for the guy, admits J Tee. He had to come in and bring something to the
table. We’d been together three years at this point.

In the end he decided he didn’t want to be in the group – he probably didn’t like us!
He was a young Welsh boy.

7. The introduction of an urban award at the brits is warmly welcomed by 3rd Edge,
who’re tipped to make it onto the next MOBO shortlist.

Last year was the biggest year for UK urban acts so I think it’s really important, states
J Tee.

People classed us a garage act which we never were. Our album is hiphop and R&B
beats with quick chatting on it. It’s out in April.
