A great day in the river

The clean up yesterday was a rousing success with lots of families and assorted folks joining in to pull out tires, golf balls, plastic bags, beer bottles, clothing, ladders, shopping carts in the river between the Bay and Hoover bridges. Denise, a Demarest School student really enjoyed walking in the river in spite of the t00-big boots. She also is a student of irony as pointed out how Mom is always telling Denise and her sister Meghan to be careful not to go in the river. And here they were, encouraged to do just the thing they were warned against.

Casa Turano offered up pizza's, a perfect answer to hunger after a morning combing the river; and Gencarellis pitched in some delicious cupcakes. Obals offered up hotdogs but we didn't have enough room after the pizza.

Passaic Valley Sewage Commission River Restoration crew of George and Henry were a great help with supplies and guidance.

Just a note that the Clark's Pond dredging remains a concern for the Friends of Clark's Pond. The FOCP members have also been trying to meet the challenge of tending many (many snapping) turtles rescued from the pond before the dredging.
