THIS FRIDAY, March 16 ! cancel anything else scheduled and at 8:00, run, don't walk, to
the Union Congregational Church in Montclair to hear Andy Willner. He's the director of our dear NY/NJ Baykeeper organization that has provided an enormous amount of assistance in our efforts to save the Bloomfield floodplain at Liongate. Andy is a terrific speaker and you will be glad you attended.
Baykeepers is a conservation and advocacy organization – the steward for the Bays and watershed of the Hudson-Raritan Estuary (New York / New Jersey Harbor). He is a guest of the Montclair Engineers organization which is also crowing about the coffee and dessert to nibble on at 7:30 (www.montclairengineers.org)
TUESDAY, MARCH 20, cancel anything else scheduled and at 7:30 p.m. run, don't walk, to the council chambers at Bloomfield's municipal hall. Arthur Fefferman is back asking the planning board for approval for an amendment to the previous application. He has cut the project back to 104 units from 114/124 units, and removed the nightmare underground detention system.
He still has a stream encroachment permit pending in front of the NJDEP. We continue to press our local leaders to ask that the flawed, decades-old FEMA floodmaps be redrawn before any decisions are made.
We don't know whether an amendment means multiple planning board meetings like the previous application, or whether this will be a one-evening shot.
Please come and join us.
