1. Salerno started presenting the latest Leo proposal for the Scientific Glass site at around 9:00 PM on Tuesday night. He finished his interview of the engineer and the board finished their questions and the public was going to start questioning but since it was 11:30 PM , they stopped. Note: they have removed the 3 townhouses shown in the cul-d-sac..so the density is now 124, not 127.

2. The Master plan was supposed to be adopted last night, but Bloomfield's own Ralph Salerno, Attorney for Leo, brought in his planner (Mr. steck) and tried to make a case for changing the density for townhouses proposed in the new master plan. Councilman hamilton proposed 2 motions, both of which were seconded by Mayor McCarthy, which is forcing the master plan adoption to be delayed until June 11, 5:00 meeting time. First Councilman Hamilton tried to have a 'third party' review Steck's issues and resolve the differences with the master plan. Surprisingly the board failed this motion. Then Mr. Hamilton asked for Fusca (the consultant who wrote the master plan) to review steck's issues.
This passed. Thus another delay.
So mr. Fusca has to review steck's documents (which were not submitted until last night.) Someone in the audience noted that The Planning Board started working on the master plan almost 2 years ago to the day and also complained that there have been plenty of public meetings when Mr. Salerno could have brought Mr. Steck and avoided the delay.
3. The Marzulli case (now 6 single family homes rather than 24 townhomes) will begin being heard on July 2. This is that shoehorn property next to the First Union at Watchung and Broad. While neighbhors are relieved that it is not the 24 units previously submitted...even 6 homes are questionable... how are these people going to merge into traffic on Broad? what a nightmare. Some neighbors have hired a lawyer to represent them... Unfortunately, for others, relief that it isn't 24 townhomes has obscured the problems that even cars from 6 homes trying to merge onto Broad will be a problem..not to mention the overbuilt status Bloomfield already enjoys.
4. The USS Liongate fair at Liongate and Broad on June 9 was a huge success..we will keep you posted on location and time for the next one.
