CEO'S WEBLOG
29-jan-03
Right I have decided to add a weblog to this site just to give myself something to do while I try to write the next event.
To start with I want to talk about the WWF (stupid world wide fund for nature we recognise not your crazy law to sue for the rights to letters which mean different words! Oh by the way next Panda I see is getting a black eye...?), I have been a fan for years but even I have to admit at this time it isnt looking that good. At Wrestlmania x8 the WWF decided on making the main event a match between two of the top guys in the company (Triple-H and Chris Jericho) what could be wrong with such an impressive contest to end the biggest PPV of the year? Allow me to make a few points that first bothered me post Hunters Royal Rumble victory
1.Triple-H has been out for months and has less than two months to create heat for said main event.
2.Triple-H is being a good guy for the first time since the end of Wrestlmania 15 which means the fans (including myself) need to get used to him in this role.
3.Triple-H as a good guy without the DX humour made for (in my oppinion anyway) a very 2d character.
4.Jericho never made his Heel character threatening enough to take down Triple-H.
5.The build up was more set around Triple-H and Stephanies marriage breaking up rather than the contest of the two wrestlers (What the hell was that Bullog incident about "you hurt my dog now im gonna hurt you"?).
6.I found it hard to think of Triple-H's Leg injury being a factor in the match because of the WWF reports on his amazing recovery and rehab(sledge hammer shot or no).
7.As a cowardly heel Jricho should have some great fall back plan to make the outcome seem in doubt but no all he had was his opponents estranged wife.
8.The Rock Vs Hogan match was always going to shit the main event off the stage which is stupid because in wrestling you should push above all else the main event, if a match is better than the main event (1998 King of the Ring What do you think when you hear that? The Undertaker chucking Mankind off the Cell or Kane becoming WWF Champion?)fair enough but the WWF promoted the hell out of it.
Wrestlmania 19 is just around the corner now so I see it like this. The Cons
No rivalries set, a roster split that has cut creative time for the matches in half given us two tag team titles when the WWF has about 3 decent ESTABLISHED tag teams(3-minute Warning, The Dudley Boyz, Billy and Chuck) and pushed people I really DO NOT give a crap about(Edge) while they bury the ones I really like (Jericho,Booker-T,Tommy Dreamer,Raven,Hardcore Holly), Brock Lesnar a character I hardly know has walked into the WWF and been handed everything to him in the last year including the main event at Wrestlmania(I admit I would have thought he had a future as a great main event Wrestler but he got everything so quickly I just think the WWF has pushed him too fast too soon).
The Pros Kurt angle is in the main event and he is one of the best there is character-wise wrestling-wise and comedy-wise and Stone Cold Steve Austin is returning.
Heres hoping it will be better then I think it will be because I really hate feeling so negative to something that was a highlight to my tv viewing week.
