"Subtly brilliant lyrics and unusually complicated musical arrangements give The Farewell Letter's long-anticipated debut album a distinctly infectious sound. The CD boasts it's share of powerful rock tracks like "Would You Lie?" and "Dirty Penny," both of which prove that music with more depth than "I'm a slave for you" can still get stuck in your head. But, the extent of the bands artistic drive really becomes obvious with the incredible acoustic closer, "Simple Times." The imaginative, yet not overcomplicated lyrics and sincere vocal delivery make it stand out from the muddled mess of noise that somehow passes for music these days. To put it simply, The Farewell Letter has raised the bar for independent releases with
this album. If you don't already own it, fix that problem.

"The debut EP from this Chico, Calif., quartet is a pleasant mixture of emo rock, and soft, almost languid melodies. The title track has already garnered some radio airplay in Northern California, while the band has been performing acoustic versions of these songs live for radio shows. While the three songs on this cd are nicely done, they're just too slight a taste of what this band has to offer. "

With Bright Melodies and impassioned lyrics, their brand of emotionally driven rock is like a breath of fresh air. Thanks to their sincere delivery and a couple of independent releases, including a full-length, self titled CD released just last year, The Farewell Letter has created quite a nice following for themselves in the Chico area.
