TRAINING

We offer complete traning for ponies from 11 h.h. up to 14.2 h.h.  Our training program is designed for kids, done with kids.  Our ponies are well trained mounts - we are proud of our work!

We reconmend that ponies come in for training in the later part of their two year old year. We establish a solid foundation of ground work and then move to our "kids part" - a special program that allows both the child and pony to work as one on the ground in a safe, efficent manner.  Once this is accomplished, we move to saddle training.  Again, we establish certain guidlines and then incorporate them into our "kid proof" program as after all, they are the ones doing the riding.
At two, we only do walk and trot - allowing the pony to get comfortable with these gaits and the children riding them.
At three, we work more on the whole picture of flat work - improving the natural gait with ground exercises and introducing the canter - again with children in mind.  Towards the end of the three year old year, we introduce cavalette work to establish a good solid foundation for jumping.
At four, we begin to take our flat work and incorporate that into a course - encouraging consistancy both over fences and between while still maintaining the safety and concern of the child rider - we want to develope confidence in BOTH!

While most people have ponies broke in "fully" at two and three, we realize the need to treat a pony just like it's counter part - the horse.  Why jump a pony at two when you cringe at riding a horse at two.
Most ponies develope those nasty habits when broke in a hurry.  We have found that when taken slowly and carefully while maintaining the attatchment to children, you end up with those "one in a million" ponies! After the time we have spend breeding our European Style Ponies, we do not want to see them fall into the cracks that so many ponies due simply based on their size and willingness to please - something we encourage ALL ponies owners and breeders to take to heart.
With this said, we offer our training program to pony owners for the reasonable fee of $350. per 30 days with a minimum stay of 60 days.  This fee includes board which consists of individual or herd turnout, 24 hour turn out or stabled at night and hay.  Grain is extra if necessary.  All ponies are put on our farrier and deworming programs and billed to owners as such.

As we develope our breeding program, our facilites will also be changing - our barn is being finished by the spring of 2001 and will include 15 stalls - ample room for incoming ponies.  It will also boast a shower stall with hot water, large aisleways and spacious tack area and work area.  Small, individual paddocks are being finished fall of 2000 with our grass paddocks being complete in the spring of 2001.  Plans for an outdoor hunter/jumper ring for ponies are being finalized for the summer of 2001.  Also in the works are a 40' by 60' indoor training pen for winter training and an 8 stall mare barn with seperate fields for large and small pony foals and their moms!

WE WELCOME ALL INQUIRES - WE ARE LOCATED CLOSE TO THE NEW YORK BOARDERS - OUR TRANING RATES ARE VERY LOW WHEN CONVERTED TO US FUNDS!!!!!
