I have listed below several techniques for meditation first, they are quite easy and are suited for beginners. On the next page, there are some techniques which involve alot of visualisation and are a bit more difficult. Basic Meditation Technique This is the first meditation technique I learned. It was taught to me by a religious studies teacher at my secondary school and still remains one of my favourites. I usually do it lying down. Begin by tensing your toes and then relaxing them, concentrate on them and imagine them sinking into the floor. Once you feel that your toes are relaxed, tense your feet and then relax, imagining them melting and flowing into the ground. Do the same for each part of your body progressing gradually up your legs, along you body, down your arms and finally to your neck and head. Once you reach your head try and empty it of all thoughts (easier said than done, I know!). You should feel so relaxed you don't want to ever move again! Meditation To Rid Yourself of Worries Try this when things are preying on your mind! I find it useful when I can't think about anything else for worrying about a specific thing. Relax your body and concentrate on your breath. Imagine all the negativity in your life leaving you as you breath out. I imagine it as a red/black mist leaving my body. When you breath in, imagine yourself being filled with happiness and positivity. I imagine this as a blue/white sparkly light flowing in to me. Continue until you feel at peace and ready to face the world again! Candle Meditation Light a candle and sit with it before you. Begin to slow your breathing and concentrate on the flame. Then shut your eyes and visualise the flame in your mind. Now imagine the light from the candle flowing into you and cleansing you. Sending Out Love (from www.magickal.net - they have good section on meditation) Sit comfortably and relax. Create a feeling of love, warmth and good will in the heart area of your body. Visualise this as a glowing, pink aura which emanates from you and surrounds your whole body. Now, visualise the person, group or entity you wish to help. Imagine sending a portion of your pink aura to whatever you visualised. See them bathed in a pink aura of protection and know that your love/help has been sent. |
