Miss Cleo and Her Cards
"Sister
Cleo and her Cards: Growing in Popularity"

Well-known
tarot card reader Sister Cleo is growing in popularity. It’s been reported by
her organization that she’s “helped” thousands of people in search for
future knowledge of their life and personal relationships. Born in the Trelawney
section of Jamaica, Miss Cleo is becoming a household name for her ability to
“make a difference in people’s lives”.
On
her website, there’s a short biography of Miss Cleo. From it, Miss Cleo claims
her mother wanted her to be an attorney, but she didn’t want to be one. She
says from a very early age “Dead people used to come and talk to me in
my dreams when I was a little gal”. Eventually, Miss Cleo discovered and
explored Lukumi and other metaphysical arts. Also, on her website as
well, she admits to what god she believes in. “Miss Cleo and other Lukumi adherents
believe in one god known as Olorun or Olodumare. Olorun is the source of ashe,
the spiritual energy that makes up the universe, all life and all things
material.”
So
much for her being a Christian, huh? Now, what about these cards?
Tarot
cards have a mysterious beginning. Many place it around the 14th
century. However, the cards have an association with the occult, which can be
traced back to the mystery religions of Egypt. 77 cards in a complete deck (56
in the minor arcane, 21 in the major arcane), the tarot cards have been known to
be a method of divination; such as with Miss Cleo. Divination, the art of
foretelling the future, has become very widespread lately. A usual session
involves a “seeker”, someone who’s seeking knowledge from the cards; and a
“reader”, someone who can read the cards and inform the seeker with that
information. Many people will pay good money to know what man they are going to
marry, or does their boyfriend really love them, or will they get this job, etc.
What’s
the bottom line about Miss Cleo and her cards? Don’t be fooled by this demonic
activity. These cards are nothing but a form of “divination”; a way to
predict the future; such as horoscope, palmistry, etc. And we who belong to
Jesus have no need to seek the future from a demonic source. God says in His
word “There shall not be found among you any one that… useth
divination…”. Deuteronomy 13:10
Don’t
put your trust in cards; trust the Lord Jesus Christ. And He will lead you all
the way.
