You can earn back up to ½ of the credit you lost on the last test.
Objective: The student will communicate and give applications (examples) of the material that was covered in the previous unit of study.
Directions: (1) Ask the teacher for project topic/themes. (2) Choose one of the following options. (3) Create a product that can be used to teach a student about your topic/theme.
I. A Poster Presentation
25% - The material on the poster must be accurate.
25% - The text must be neat. If you have poor handwriting, you
may need to type the information and then paste it onto the poster.
25% - Color illustrations must be present that are related to the theme/topic.
You may use pictures from the Internet if you include your sources.
25% - Examples and/or applications of the topic/theme must be present.
(For example, a project on thermal expansion and contraction could explain
that a metal bridge has gaps called expansion joints because the bridge
expands in the summer and contracts in the winter.)
II. A Brochure
25% - The material in the brochure must be accurate.
25% - The text must be neat. If you have bad handwriting, you
may need to type the information and then paste it on the brochure.
25% - Color illustrations must be present that are related to the material.
All sides of the brochure must contain information. You may use pictures
from the Internet if you include your sources.
25% - Examples and/or applications of the material must be present.
(For example, a project on Electromagnetic (EM) waves could describe how
we (you) use the different waves.)
III. A Movie/Video (talk show, interview, news show, game show,
etc.)
25% - The material in the video must be accurate.
50% - You must submit a storyboard or outline of your video’s material.
It must be neat. If you have bad handwriting, type the information.
25% - Examples and/or applications of the material must be present.
(For example, a project on measurement could describe the different units
and quantities for baking a cake.)
IV. A PowerPoint Presentation
20% - The material in the presentation must be accurate and organized.
40% - You need a minimum of 8 slides with text to explain the material..
20% - Each slide must have at least one color illustration that is
related to the material. You may use pictures from the Internet if
you include your sources.
20% - Examples and/or applications of the material must be present.
(For example, a project on light and lenses could describe the different
shapes of lenses needed for nearsightedness and farsightedness.)
V. A Rap Song
25% - The material in the rap must be accurate.
10% - The words in the rap must rhyme and there should be an obvious
rhythm.
30% - Your rap should be at least 20 lines long.
10% - You or someone else must perform your rap for the class.
25% - Examples and/or applications of the material must be present.
(For example, a project on phases of matter could explain the water cycle.)
VI. A Newsletter
25% - The material in the newsletter must be accurate.
25% - It must be typed. Include a title and 2 columns of information.
One page minimum.
25% - Color illustrations/pictures must be present that are related
to the material. Text must be wrapped around the illustrations/pictures.
You may use pictures from the Internet if you include your sources.
25% - Examples and/or applications of the material must be present.
(For example, a project on chemical reactions could describe the different
chemicals used to produce different colors of fireworks.)
VII. Student Developed Project
If you have another idea that is not listed, you can ask for approval.
