Generator Design Project
Your objective is
to build an electric motor based on the model given in class. Then
you are to attempt to adapt that design to create an electric generator
that is powered by wind or falling water.
The products that your group
should submit are worth a total of a possible 180 points:
-
A working electric motor is worth a total of 40 points
-
if the electric motor's construction is complete and matches
your diagram, receive
10 points
-
if your electric motor is operational, reusable, and securely
assembled, receive 30 points
-
A drawing that labels the parts of your motor is worth
20
points
-
A paragraph (or more) accurately describing why and how your
motor works is worth 20 points
-
A working wind or waterfall powered electric generator that
is an adaptation of your motor is worth 40 points. If the
electric generator is of an original design, add 20 points.
-
A drawing that labels the parts of your electric generator
is worth
20 points
-
A paragraph (or more) accurately describing why and how your
generator works is worth 20 points
Note: Construction
of just the electric motor will give you an 80 (C). You need to build
the generator to get an A. Furthermore, any points beyond 100 points
can be added directly to any of your test or quiz grades on electricity
and/or magnetism.
