Thom
has named Radiohead's 4th album, Kid A. The album is to be released on October 2
2000. "It meant that I could be alot happier about the place I was at." · Meanwhile, Thom has been busy getting himself involved with the Jubilee 2000, speaking about his interest issue about globalisation.
"I was really to get involved with it because it is a mainstream,
acceptable face of resistance against the antics of IMF and the World
Bank." ·
Thom
(and others) decided to have a mini-european tour during the summer, before the
release of their album · On July 1st, during the band's performance at London Royal Festival Hall, Thom dedicated the song 'You and whose army' to Tony Blair. · Thom has lambasted alternative rock, saying that it needed to be bludgeoned to death. He also said that Radiohead will never return to their traditional guitar roots. · Thom deflected attention from the band by embroiling himself in the campaign to end the third world debt. ·
Thom
has also encouraged his fans to send an email to Tony Blair and Bill Clinton to
act before this year's G7 summit · Thom has yet again used his radiohead website to launch a bitter attack yet on Western political failures to combat growing Third World debt. "You can't eat the fucking web. This is free market killing. You have no-one to blame but yourself and you know it. What kind of future are you expecting? You expecting to walk away, hands clean, white gloves? You expecting the trouble to cease? How will you sleep? When things turn nasty how will you explain yourself? What will you say to your children?" · Kid A debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. According to Thom he felt that 'it doesn't mean anything.' |
