The Norwegian Prison Service |
The Norwegian Prison Service is an agency
within the Ministry of Justice and the Police. It is
responsible for the implementation of custodial sentences
and preventive detention in such a way that the adverse
effects of the confinements are minimised. There are 36 prisons in Norway. The prisons have different security levels, from open camps to maximum security sections. The officers of the Prison Service have some restricted police authority. |
