THE NATIONAL POLICE ACADEMY

IN USE 1966 - 1992

Politihøgskolen (The National Police Academy)

Politiskolen (PS) was established in 1919. In 1992 this vocational school for police education with a two-year course in basic training, was upgraded into a college of higher education, and was renamed Politihøgskolen (PHS). Since then, the police training has been based on a three-year course for new students. The course now carries credits within Norwegian tertiary education, and students therefore have the option of going on to take a degree within the university system.

The patch was worn on the left shoulder, while there was no patch on the right shoulder. The patch was used from 1966 until 1992, when Politiskolen was renamed Politihøgskolen. Since then, students at Politihøgskolen have used the Norwegian Police Service patch.
