Pictures of our holiday in March-April 2002
Justina and I spent three glorious weeks in Namibia and South Africa last March-April.
While up north in Ovamboland Justina and I got to visit my friends the Shooyas. They had met at our wedding but of course hadn't had a chance to sit down and visit. Tate and Meme are wearing clothes that we had made in Côte d'Ivoire and brought for them as gifts.
Chris Hoge and I spent two days and a night at the Spitzkoppe in western Namibia. This was my third time there and each time the place just blows me away, it's got to be one of the most beautiful places in Namibia (which is saying something). At night the sky was so clear and the moon so bright that we could hike around on the rocks just by the moonlight.
In Windhoek we visited my old colleague and housemate George Sitapata in Windhoek.
Giant's Castle National Park...
... and Royal Natal National Park, two parks in South Africa along the Drakensberg range, between Johannesburg and Durban. All the beauty of the American west without the huge crowds.
In Johannesburg we stayed with Justina's friend Pride and her growing family.
