Townhouse converted from store and apartments to New York City headquarters of international sportwear company. Previous interiors totally demolished; new sub-structure, elevator, emergency and decorative staircases inserted. First three floors of the five-story building used for retail, the fourth floor for wholesale, and the fifth floor for administrative functions. The brick facade was cleaned and all existing historic features such as windows and cornice were restored from the third floor up in accordance with requirements of the landmark district. The two lower floors of the facade and the rear wall were designed in a contemporary manner reflecting the thrust of the company.
